If you plan on renewing a membership this year but not at this banquet, please contact Julie Hammill (906-875-6487 or juliehammill@hughes.net) to renew.  Our Chapter will not get credit for renewing members that  renew through the SCI National website or by phoning National.

 

NEW* and Renew Membership

SCI National 1-year Membership is $65.

The Northwoods Chapter annual membership dues are $15/year, or $45/3-years.  You cannot join SCI only as a Chapter member, you must also join or be a National member to be a Chapter member.

*A NEW member is anyone who has never been a member of SCI before, or anyone who has been an inactive member for more than 12 months.

To become a new member, or renew SCI and Northwoods Chapter membership – Print and complete the following form: 

If paying with credit card you may mail the completed form to the address below, or email to: juliehammill@hughes.net.  Please include “Northwoods Membership” on the Subject line of your email.

If paying with check, mail the completed form with your payment, to: Northwoods Chapter SCI, 235 Soderena Rd., Crystal Falls, MI 49920.

   Membership in Safari Club International   If you are a current member of SCI, before your membership expires you will receive renewal notices in the mail.  You may send your renewal form & payment (don’t forget to include Chapter dues) directly to the National office in the envelope they provide; renew on-line at www.scifirstforhunters.org; or send your form and payment to: Northwoods Chapter SCI, 235 Soderena Rd., Crystal Falls, MI 49920.    To join as a new member you have several options: 1) Join in person at the Northwoods Chapter April 20th Banquet;  2) Join on-line at www.scifirstforhunters.org; 3) Get a membership application form on the Northwoods Chapter website www.sci-northwoods.org; or 4) Contact your local Northwoods Chapter at 906-875-6487 to receive a membership application form.  Current membership dues (note the bargain on 3-year National dues):

 

     Annual National SCI Dues—$65 (US, Canada, Mexico);   Three-year National SCI Dues — $150 (US, Canada, Mexico)

     Annual Northwoods Chapter Dues — $16;  Three-year Northwoods Chapter Dues — $45 

By joining SCI, you are joining more than 55,000 other SCI members worldwide. Those members collectively belong to more than 190 local SCI Chapters (there are 11 chapters in Michigan), allowing you to join a group of dedicated SCI members in your community. Chapters raise money to support SCI’s mission in their own backyards. The majority of funds raised by a Chapter are spent by the Chapter. Chapters support SCI’s Washington, D.C. office and our worldwide efforts to protect hunting rights, and fulfill countless local conservation, education and humanitarian projects.

You must be a National member to join our local chapter. Dues for the local chapter are $15 per year for an individual.

  • There are about 37.4 million hunters and anglers in the United States over the age of 16.  The collective importance of the hunting, angling and shooting community represents a $90 billion industry in America.
  • Spending by hunters pays $5.4 billion in state and local taxes. (CSF)
  • Hunters put their money towards conserving fish and wildlife habitat: $8 billion was spent in 2011 to own, lease and cultivate land. (CSF)
  • Since 1934, hunters have spent more than $750 million on Federal Duck Stamps, a program that has protected over 6 million acres of wetland habitat, an area the size of Vermont. (CSF)
  • More than 680,000 jobs are supported by hunting, greater than the total employment in 12 states.  (NSSF)
  • As of 2012, hunters and target shooters have paid more than $7.2 billion in excise taxes through the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act since its passage in 1937.  (NSSF)
  • If hunting were a company, the amount spent by hunters to support their hunting activities would place it number 73 on the Fortune 500 list.  (NSSF)

  • 73% of Americans approve of hunting. (Only 10% think hunting should be illegal.)
  • Hunters are among the most influential of all groups.
